Stefan Baciu (1918-1993)
During 1937-1941 he studies law at the Law University in Bucarest.
Between 1937-1941 he has a reach activity in Romanian newspapers as Gandirea, Bis, Universul literar, Rampa, Arta Noua
In 1945 he marries Mira Simian.
In 1946 he is presseattache in Sviterland to the Romanian Legation in Bern.
In 1949 he leaves with his wife for Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. From 1953 he works as city-editor to a very important newspaper Tribuna da Impresa. During this time he writes a book about his work called Lavradio 98 a real best-seller.
He travels in almost all the American latin countries: Argentina, Guatemala, Venezuela, Honduras, Mexic, Cuba, San Salvador, Haiti etc.
A real specialist of the latino-american literature he is the author of two very important anthologies: The Anthology of the latino-american poetry and The Surrealist latino-american Anthology.
Since 1962 he is invited in S.U.A. as hispano-american teacher and from 1964 he settles in Honolulu-Hawaii where he teaches to the Honolulu University.
Stefan Baciu is the author of more than 100 volumes, memoirs, translations, essayist and 5000 of articles and studies, appeared in romanian, french, german, latino-american, nord-american newspapers.
Stefan Baciu dies in Honolulu in 6 January 1993.
He was an Honor Citizen of Rio de Janeiro, Consul of Bolivia in Honolulu Hawaii, Emeritus teacher of the Honolulu University.
In 1991 he receives the Honor Decoration of the Cultural Merit as Commandor of the Ministery of Culture and Education in Bolivia.
From 1996 he is post-mortem Honor Citizen of Nades. |
