He graduated the Romanian School in Blaj. There he learned about the cultural message of Transylvania School that the culture is important for a nation.
He arrived in Brasov as a teacher. He helped George Baritiu to edit the first Romanian political newspaper.
He was permanently preoccupied to organize schools and programs. In 1850 he became the only owner of the Transylvanian newspaper.
In its pages he fought to obtain political and civil rights for his compatriots. In 1850 he invented Romana, a very appreciated dance among Romanians.
In 1878 he became member of the Romanian Academy for all his activity.
